Digital Therapeutics (DTx), the fastest-growing area of healthtech with transformational potential for medical outcomes. We take a closer look at the innovation and investment landscape of DTx in our latest report, made in partnership with Inkef, MTIP and Speedinvest.

DTx manufacturers are learning that getting the attention of physicians to prescribe a digital therapy, can be difficult and expensive. Patients also must be willing to adopt digital treatments, which typically require more effort on their part than taking a pill.

However, DTx are gradually finding their place in the healthcare ecosystem as regulation and reimbursement is taking shape, together with the rising engagement and adoption by physicians and patients.

🧬 Experimental CRISPR technique has promise against aggressive leukaemia. A 13-year-old girl whose leukaemia had not responded to other treatments now has no detectable cancer cells after receiving a dose of immune cells that were genetically edited to attack the cancer. This involves adding a gene to a type of immune cell known as a T cell that causes it to seek out and destroy cancerous cells. The modified cells are known as CAR-T cells. - NewScientist

🧠 A drug for Alzheimer’s disease that seems to work. Results of a clinical trial, conducted by its makers, Eisai, of Tokyo, and Biogen, of Cambridge, Massachusetts, have just been announced in the New England Journal of Medicine. After 18 months, it had slowed the progress of Alzheimer symptoms by a quarter.  - The Economist

🇺🇸 Apogee Therapeutics, a biotech company addressing immunological and inflammatory disorders, raised $149M in Series B.

 🇺🇸 Celcuity, a clinical-stage biotechnology company that seeks to extend the lives of cancer patients by pursuing an integrated therapeutic and companion diagnostic strategy, raised $100M in Private Placement VC. The round follows dosage of the first patient in Celcuity's Phase 3 clinical trial, VIKTORIA-1, evaluating gedatolisib, Celcuity's lead therapeutic candidate.

 🇮🇳 Wellbeing Nutrition, an online store specialist in female health and nutrition, raised $10M in Series B. 

🇫🇷 Semeia, digital health company that provides software that helps in medical follow-up and consultation, raised €8M. Semeia  focuses in the remote monitoring of chronic diseases, including chronic kidney disease and transplantation, and recently acquired OPTIM'CARE.
