🇳🇱 Lightyear has raised €81M in funding to secure the production of the first series model, Lightyear 0. The Dutch start-up also hopes to push ahead with developing its second solar car, the Lightyear 2.
🇨🇭 Swiss foodtech start-up Planted, known for its natural biostructured meat made from alternative proteins, has successfully closed its Series B financing round of $71M Swiss francs.
🇳🇴 Norway-based eSmart Systems, a company that develops an AI-based solution to inspect and maintain critical energy infrastructure, has raised around €40m in a Series B round of funding.
🇩🇰 Blue World Technologies, a Danish startup making methanol-based fuel cell batteries closed a $37M series B round featuring motor and generator producer Deutz. The batteries are being developed for the maritime sector, where methanol is seen as one of the most promising ways, at least in the short term, to cut carbon emissions.
Other promising impact deals:
🇩🇪 Everphone, a Berlin, Germany-based provider of a B2B recycling and lending phone-as-a-service, raised over $32M in Series C-2 funding. The round was led by Cadence Growth Capital alongside existing investors such as Kevin Ryan.
🇺🇸 Neutral Foods, the US-based carbon-neutral food company, raised a $12M funding round led by Bill Gates’ investment fund, Breakthrough Energy Ventures.
🏴 Trojan Energy, which designs, manufactures and operates “next generation” electric vehicle charging points plans to double its workforce and ramp up the roll-out of installations after securing a £9 million funding round.
