1.3 million women in the US (alone) enter menopause every year. According to a report by the VC Female Founders Fund, menopause is a $600 billion opportunity. The femtech industry has made great advances to improve women’s care for menstrual health, fertility, and pregnancy. Yet, despite the boom in femtech, there hasn’t been much tech developed to help the 6,000 women that go into menopause each day.
In 2021 so far, femtech startups have raised $2.5 billion in VC investment, up 44x vs. 2010. Between 2016 and 2021, femtech startups have raised $6.3 billion, while menopause startups have raised $128.9 million, this is only 2% of total investment in femtech. “Only 5% of femtech startups address menopause, and overall the opportunity is huge.” Adrianna Samaniego, Investor, Female Founders Fund.
