Mobility & Auto Trading Marketplaces

Mobility marketplaces have increased 1.8x in EV since 2017 while funding has dropped significantly over the past 3 years. Mobility marketplaces are now worth over $230B but funding has slowed down in the segment, with the previous 3 years having raised less than the 3 before.

Cash intensive gig economy marketplaces were the models of funding success, but have proven to lack profitably long term and bring with them competitors with deep pockets. 

While giants like Uber, Bolt and Lyft have dominated the mobility marketplace space, smaller niches have been gaining relevance such as B2B Auto Trading with Cars2Click, Carmarketplace and 2trde. 🚨 Uber Files. Leaked documents showcase inner workings of the marketplace giant. Uber has been faced with a touch week as thousands of leaked documents detail how the company entered and dealt with new markets and competition. - The Guardian

🎮 GameStop launches NFT marketplace. The popular video game retailer that made headlines last year when its stocks blew up from a Reddit user campaign, has now launched an NFT marketplace to try and combat the slowdown in growth. - CNBC

🇺🇸 Xpansiv, the San Francisco based marketplace for players to buy and sell carbon and environmental commodities, has raised a $400M Growth VC round.  The funding will be used to fuel scale as governments and companies make pledges in reducing or become net-zero in carbon emissions. 

🇧🇷 CarboNext, a Brazilian carbon credit marketplace, has raised $40M from Royal Dutch Shell in an Early VC round. The company currently manages over 2 million hectares of land and plans CarboNext will gain access to more advanced monitoring technologies while Shell will gain preference in negotiations of carbon credits. 

🇨🇳 Ouyeel, the China-based steel transaction marketplace, has raised $35M to continue operations. The startup helped transact over $20B in the last year and aims at $29B for its next phase.

🇮🇳 Vegrow, the Indian agricultural marketplace that works by clustering farmers together to gain efficiency in trading and shipping, has raised $25M in a Series B. 

🇺🇸 Crowdstreet, the US-based crowdsourcing real estate investment platform, has raised a $23M round.
