🇦🇹 GoStudent, an Astrian online tutoring platform, more than doubled its valuation since June last year following a €300 million Series D round. Launched in 2016, GoStudent has grown to 1000 employees and over 10K tutors. The new funding will be used towards product expansion through M&A, market share growth and international expansion.
🇺🇸 OpenSea, a SF-based diverse NFT marketplace, became a decacorn following a $300 million Series C round. Its valuation increased 8.7x since July 2021 to $13.3 billion. OpenSea inteds to accelerate product development and invest in customer support. It also will invest in the broader NFT community by directly backing creators, developers and NFT evangelists. While OpenSea caters to diverse NFT types, others such as Eternal and Sorare have taken a vertically specialized approach. Actually, Sorare is almost 2x more funded than OpenSea. There are 100+ other NFT marketplaces.
Other notable marketplace deals from the last week:
🇬🇧 Gousto, a London-based meal kit delivery company, raised €133 million at €1.5 billion valuation. The deal includes €88 million in equity from SoftBank and €44 million of debt from Barclays and HSBC. With the new funding, Gousto will build its automated fulfillment facility to increase capacity by 40%. As we've written before, there have been winners and losers among meal kit delivery startups. Gousto seems to be in the former category.
🇫🇷 Back Market, a refurbished products marketplace, secured $510 million at $5.7 billion valuation.
🇲🇾 Carsome, a Malaysia-based used car e-commerce platform, $290 million at $1.7 billion valuation to fund its Southeast Asia expansion.
🇫🇷 Ankorstore, a French Amazon competitor, became a unicorn following a $283 million in Series C funding.

Exits:
🇺🇸 Turo, a SF-based car sharing marketplace, announced it has filed an S-1 filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). It intends to list on the New York Stock Exchange. Turo was valued at $1.0 billion in the last private round in February 2020.
