Mind the gap - Europe's catching up
Our latest European Startups report, in partnership with Sifted, presented at Index Ventures' Not Optional summit, shows that European tech companies are now worth 4x what they were five years ago, with a combined ecosystem value of €618bn.
The five biggest tech companies founded in Europe since 2005, are now worth more (€170B) than the entire European tech ecosystem was five years ago (€155B) .
Europe still lags behind the US and Asia on late-stage funding, corporate R&D spending and domestic capital, but while there is still work to be done to close the gap, European success is snowballing.
