| View in browser December 20, 2022 Top 100 Clean Energy startups to watch 💡 We’ve ranked the top clean energy startups globally to watch based on Dealroom Signal.   These are companies whose aim is to advance technologies and facilitate access to clean energy. They fall under the SDG #7 affordable and clean energy. This includes companies that work on renewable energy, energy efficiency, advanced and cleaner fossil-fuel technology, but also companies that promote investment in energy infrastructure and clean energy technology.   Clean Energy is one of the biggest verticals within the social impact scene. Startups in this sector raised $6.2b last year and its combined value was estimated at 1.2t at the end of 2021.   Don't think of this list as a ranking of the “best startups” in Clean Energy, but instead as the top startups to watch based on their fundraising timeline, growth indicators, founding team, and a number of other factors. Once-in-a-decade deal to halt the destruction of Earth’s ecosystems was signed, but the agreement seems to have been forced through by the Chinese president, ignoring the objections of some African states. - The Guardian 🌳🐅 Explore our Biodiversity startup landscape, covering 140+ startups developing tech solutions for ecosystem conservation.   👗 Stella McCartney and LVMH back $200M climate-linked venture capital fund. McCartney, a sustainability adviser to LVMH, is a founding investor in the Collab SOS venture capital fund that will be managed by New York-based asset management group Collaborative Fund. - Financial Times   ✈️ Virgin Atlantic will launch the first net zero flight across the Atlantic next year. This flight is expected to be fuelled by SAF made primarily from waste oils and fats, such as used cooking oil. - Lubomila Jordanova (LinkedIn)   Latest impact deals:  The largest in the last week:   🇺🇸🇨🇦 Chevron New Energies (CNE), a division of Chevron U.S.A., and Svante announced that Chevron is the lead investor in Svante’s Series E fundraising round, which raised $318M that will be used to accelerate the manufacturing of Svante’s carbon capture technology.   🇺🇸 Group14 Technologies, a global manufacturer and supplier of advanced silicon battery technology, raised $214M in additional financing from a consortium including Microsoft's Climate Innovation Fund, Lightrock Climate Impact Fund, Moore Strategic Ventures, Oman Investment Authority, and Molicel.    🇺🇸 Sun King (Formally Greenlight Planet), a provider of off-grid solar energy products in Africa and Asia, has secured a $70M equity investment led by LeapFrog Investments.   🇳🇱 Amsterdam-based econic, a company that makes sustainable e-homes, raised €125M in a fresh round of funding. E-homes help avoid investment in energy systems, which econic provides the necessary equipment for an e-home,  installed and serviced, for a fixed monthly fee.   Other promising impact deals:   🇮🇱 Equinom, the ​​company on a mission to cultivate better food from the ground up, raised $35M in funding to bring more of its optimized plant protein ingredients to market.    🇨🇭 Switzerland-based Synhelion has received $24M to scale up its solar-powered industrial energy platform, which uses solar radiation to produce synthesis gas to help decarbonise heavy industrial lines.   🇸🇪 EnginZyme, a green tech company developing biomanufacturing processes for the sustainable manufacturing of everyday products, raised €21M in a Series B financing round.    Read up on all the latest impact deals in Dealroom.co     Tip of the week   🔎 Keep track of impact trends   Impact Tech has definitely slowed down from last year, but zooming out the growth in the latest year has still been massive.
